Rising Star Youth Internship
This is a brand new offering from Odyssey ClayWorks for younger folks who have aged out of our kids programs, but are interested in learning more about the ceramic field and picking up some fundamental studio knowledge from the best in the biz! The program is designed for Young persons between the ages of 15-17 who are looking to learn and gain studio access in exchange for a weekly 2 hour shift shadowing one of our experienced ceramic artists.
We would need to do an interview with both the applicant and their parent(s) so we can outline expectations and logistics as well as get to know y'all a bit better. If that all goes well we then invite the intern to join the team for a 90 day trial / probationary period to ensure that it's a good fit for everyone.
Responsibilities: A 2 hour work trade shift per week on a regular basis for an interval of time to be decided by everyone prior to start date. Usually a 6 month minimum time frame but up to 3+ years if it all works out for everyone. The shift would entail various studio tasks, usually shadowing one of our studio assistants or resident artists.
Benefits: a designated shelf space and access to a current course offering free of charge which includes open studio hours so you can practice pottery making, discounts on clay purchases and kiln firings, gallery representation if one so desires, training with various folks from the crew on studio operations, mentorship and coaching from the directors, and perhaps even some paid opportunities down the line.
