General Kiln Firing Info

We offer a few different firing packages for any temperature between Cone 020 and Cone 10.

The first of these packages would be a Full Kiln Rental

(Please fully fill out the form from the link above to start the Kiln Rental process)

For this package you must have fired a kiln with us before, and if you haven't, we ask that you let us give you a kiln loading lesson / training. The way the training works is you rent a kiln from us to fire your own work, and when you come in to load, we train you on loading and some do's & dont's for our kilns. This lesson takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and has a one time $30 fee associated with it on top of the price of the kiln. This gives you your Kiln "driver's license" and you can rent future kilns from us without supervision (though we are always around to help). This option is perfect if you want to fire to a different temperature than our studio standard of Cone 04 and Cone 6. The preferable time for you to load your kiln is noon and you must unload it 36 - 48 hours later to make way for the next person. The cost of the kilns ranges anywhere from 25 - 80 dollars depending on the size you are looking for.

The second offering would be an Individual Piece Firing

(No Form needed, just come in with your work and we will help get you situated)

The way these work is you come in with your pieces ready to be bisqued or glaze fired, you measure them to find the cubic inches of each piece, and then you fill out a form with said measurements and we take it from there. Our staff will handle all of the loading and firing of your work, and the office will invoice you for the firing once it comes out of the kiln. We currently charge 3 cents per cubic inch for any work that needs to be fired to Cone 04, Cone 6, or Cone 10 reduction. If you need to fire to a different temperature, the full kiln rental would be your better option.

Please try to load by 2pm or earlier so the person after you can load in a timely manner.

Please note: Due to some scheduling snafus, all of our kilns now operate on a 48 hour reservation schedule.

Please let us know If you are unable to make the above timeline work, or if you have an atypical firing schedule in mind. Such schedules would include a glaze downfire, crystal firing, or sculpture bisque. If any of these apply to your desired firing, please let us know and we can get you rescheduled or add a day onto your reservation, schedule permitting.
