In art as in life, good writing will always win the day! That being said, many artists struggle with this important career skill. Gabriel and Shinara are here to demystify the process. We have created a laid back, but jam-packed, 5-week business class focusing on writing for artists in all media. We’ll start by showing you ten ways to dynamize your writing while covering topics like artists statements, resumes, teaching proposals, grant applications and more. Each class will feature one-on-one time with the instructors to give you feedback on your specific writing projects.

Feel like you have a handle on the basics of the wheel-throwing and are ready to take your skills up a notch?! Has it been a while since you worked with clay and you want to hop back in? Through a combination of demonstrations, guided projects and lots of individual instruction, you will progress quickly towards your creative goals.Level: Seasoned Beginner

Do you love using color in your work, but can’t always find the color you need? Coloring your clay is a unique and affordable way to get just the look you want! Using mason stains and other commercial products to create vibrant colored clays, you will learn basic and advanced methods for blending, mixing and testing materials. Whether you like to slip cast, throw on the wheel, decorate with underglaze or just plain love to glaze, these systems for color development can be infinitely applied to your own processes.Level: Seasoned Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

Concentrating on soulful forms well-suited to salty atmospheric firing, this class will bring the sass! Explore faceting, fluting, paddling, roping, and altering as ways to add interest and movement to your forms and enhance the salty results. Enjoy learning about and creating work to be fired exclusively in our brand-new Salt/Soda Kiln!Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Come join Lauren in this beginner sculpting class where we explore all things… UNUSUAL. Using different sculpting and handbuilding techniques we will create animal skulls, body parts, and more, then transform them into functional or sculptural pieces. You are welcome to bring in your own weird and random sculpture ideas or inspirations or see where the class takes you! Nothing is off limits as we learn to build what we see and imagine with clay.Level: All Levels

Do you want to increase the scale of your work, but feel intimidated by large pieces of clay? The truth is, you don’t have to be a big, strong person to make big, strong pots! Join Anja and Gabriel as they demystify the techniques used to produce large scale pottery. Demos will include throwing wide diameter bowls, section building skyscraper pots, centering 50-100 lbs. of clay, and creative ways to make voluminous storage jars. These techniques are simple, fun, and easy to learn. You’ll be amazed at the pieces you create! The class will include plenty of studio and one-on-one time with the instructors.Level: Intermediate and Advanced

Have you dreamt of making a personalized mug or bowl but feel boggled by the process? Don’t be nervous, every proficient potter once started where you are. This class will boost your clay confidence with inspiring demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, and plenty of practice time. Through exploration of tools and foundational techniques you will be able to create distinct and useful pots. Each student will be encouraged to establish a strong skill base while also pursuing their individual interests and goals. Everyone approaches clay a little differently and that is part of the beauty! In this entry level throwing class, we take the philosophy that if it’s working for you and feels good, you’re doing it right! That being said, we will also demo the most successful methods for throwing mugs, bowls, vases, plates, and just about anything else you want to learn to throw on the potter’s wheel!Level: All Levels
